Residential Rental Availability for a Friend

Name:
Gary Stern | [email protected]
Posting Title:
Residential rental availability for a friend
Description:
One of my daughter's closest friends is a lighting designer and coordinator for live shows and events. For the past 9 years he was with my daughter at Disney on Ice, then spent 2 years with the touring company of "Stomp." He and his girlfriend are now returning to the Los Angeles area where this fine young man will be seeking regular freelance work. They are looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom residential rental, with a max budget being 1600/month. As the young man is starting a new phase of his career, he does not know where the bulk of his work will yet take him, and therefore the location in which they reside is of less importance than price and safety. They have been looking at places in the valley, as that is where he lived years ago and thus he is a bit more familiar with the area (NoHo, Burbank, Van Nuys, etc.). Leads would be appreciated. I will pass them along to my friend.

Alumni Board of Directors Nominations

Dear Bruin Professionals:
The nominations period for the Alumni Board of Directors and select campus organizations is officially open! Nominations will be accepted from Monday, October 1st till close of business Friday, November 9th.

We are hoping for an exciting and strong nominations process this year to fill several Board positions as well as representatives to select campus organizations. Think about leaders you know who can bring their skills, expertise and enthusiasm to our Board as we continue to enrich the lives of alumni and involve them in UCLA’s future. Additionally, it has been one of the Board’s practices to nominate candidates for the campus organization representatives to create a pipeline of prospective leaders that may be considered for prospective Board candidates.

Please nominate candidates by using the following link to the Nominations Form:

Please forward this message/link to others who may have prospective candidates to nominate.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Sally Lew, [email protected] at Team Alumni.
Thank you and Go Bruins!

“The wave is not the water. The water merely tells us of the passing of the wave.” —Buckminster Fuller Physics describes the Event Horizon as the boundary of a black hole, a one-way crossing between the universe outside and an undiscovered state within, the point of no return between one reality and another. Einstein's theory of Special Relativity proved that different observers, in different states of motion, see different realities. The nearer one approaches the Event Horizon, the stronger the effect on space and time. Nothing – not even light – can escape its power. This book explores the nature of perception and reality. The photograph as a portal from one perception of reality to another, employing the Event Horizon as a metaphor for that passageway. A photograph can be such a passageway, where form is a place mark for other, more fundamental elements, like the movement of trees manifesting the wind. Seen in this way, a subject may be less important for what it is, or where it is, than for what it can reveal to us of its underlying, essential nature: a visual harmonic. Event Horizon seeks to explore such ideas.
