FUNDRAISING FACT AND FICTION:  A PEEK BEHIND THE CURTAIN

Join veteran UCLA fundraiser Kate Ceredona as she gives you an inside look at an often elusive and misconceived profession.  One of the hardworking professionals responsible for UCLA's continued growth and stature, Kate will provide an overarching view of professional higher education fundraising and its processes.  In the context of UCLA’s $4.2 Billion Dollar Centennial Campaign, Kate's presentation will focus on how higher education fundraisers bring gifts to the university through strategic relationship management.  She'll also provide a behind-the-scenes context that illuminates what makes fundraising efforts successful (or unsuccessful) -- and how you can apply her techniques to your own business ventures.

Kate Ceredona serves as the Regional Director of the Development for the South Bay at UCLA where she is responsible for developing and overseeing strategies and tactics to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors to UCLA.  During her tenure at UCLA, Ms. Ceredona has worked to increase awareness and philanthropic support for various units on campus, including the UCLA Anderson School of Management and the Division of Social Sciences in the UCLA College of Letters and Science.  An alumnus of UCLA, Ms. Ceredona currently serves as the President of the UCLA Los Angeles Westside Alumni Network, where she works to create and implement programming for over 40,000 UCLA alumni and friends living in West Los Angeles.  She is also involved in the UCLA Recreation community, serving as a group fitness instructor for UCLA Recreation FITWELL Program for the past 10 years.  Ms. Ceredona received her BA in Sociology from Boston College, an MA in Sociology from UCLA, and a Certificate in Fundraising from UCLA Extension.
