Join us for our November chapter meeting as we hear from Al Moro talk about the Port of Long Beach!

Meet the Speaker: Al Moro, P.E., is a professional Civil Engineer and has served as both the Port of Long Beach Chief Harbor Engineer and the Executive Director. As Chief Harbor Engineer Mr. Moro was responsible for the Port’s Capital Improvement Program with an estimated 10-year budget of $4 Billion. As Executive Director, Mr. Moro supervised all Port operations during a period of evolving technologies in the transportation industry. Mr. Moro’s current engagements include serving on CSULB’s Dean of Engineering’s Advisory Council and as a guest lecturer at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

The Port of Long Beach is the world’s ninth largest Port and serves as the gateway for international cargo entering the U.S. Each year, an estimated $180 Billion in cargo value passes through the Port of Long Beach on its way to every congressional district in the US. Learn what the current events at the Port are, recent Port achievements and some of the challenges the Port faces in coming years, such as the impact of tariffs, strict environmental regulations, competition and changes in the shipping industry.
