“How to Work within the IRS Rules- Savings Trends and Tax Secrets for the Small Businessperson”

For many of us, planning for retirement, or even putting away a little savings, is like navigating a minefield filled with hidden tax traps and other obstacles.  But longtime Bruin Professionals members Barbara Schwartz and Mike Anderson have a roadmap to help us survive the journey -- and even thrive.  They’ll be sharing it with us at the next meeting of the Beverly Hills Chapter of Bruin Professionals, to be held on Tuesday Oct. 3 at the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, located at 9400 Santa Monica Blvd., 2nd Floor, in Beverly Hills.  The meeting, which is open to all members of Bruin Professionals, as well as any UCLA alumnus interested in learning about BP, starts at 7:30 PM, with the doors opening for coffee, bagels and more at 7:00 AM.

Barbara Schwartz is a longtime actuary who specializes in actuarial, administration, and consulting services to plan sponsors of qualified and nonqualified Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans.  In other words, she advises her clients in how to design plans to maximize tax-free or deferred income, to comply with government laws and regulations, and rectify problems resulting from prior violations of applicable law.  A former Retirement Practice Leader at Arthur Andersen, she holds an MBA in Finance from UCLA and a degree in Mathematics from Vassar College.

An Executive Vice President of Finestone Partners, Michael Anderson is primarily responsible for forming retirement plan solutions, servicing retirement plans and managing private managed money accounts. He holds Series 6,7,24 and 66 securities licenses, as well as a life and health insurance producers’ license in California, Iowa and Florida.  A double-graduate of UCLA with (undergraduate – Political Science; Executive Program of the UCLA Anderson School of Management) he has and continues to be active in a variety of UCLA organizations, including as Executive Director (2002-2010) and President (2011-2013) of Bruin Professionals, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Associated Students of UCLA (ASUCLA -- 2014-2016), and as a member of The UCLA Fund’s Chancellor’s Society.
