Westwood November Meeting
Thursday, November 17, 2022, 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM PDT
Category: Westwood

The holidays are coming, where family and friends bond and create life affirming memories.

It is also a minefield for parents and children.

Routines? (Forget it.)
Bedtime? (Is that a joke?)
Healthy diet? (What is that?)
What do you mean there's no school!??
Traveling with children? (Can we take a vacation after our vacation?)
Grandparents struggling to stay neutral? (If I bite my tongue any harder, I'll bleed.)
Don't forget the deadlines. (Contracts, filings, and projects must be done by Dec 31!)

The 3 keys to building beautiful memories during holiday time with children...

1) Communication
2) Preparation
3) Compassion

Attendees will learn specifics about these key strategies to decrease the stress and increase the joys of the season.

Meet the Speaker: Sari Beth Goodman, M.A.
As a certified parent educator and coach, Sari Goodman advises, educates, and supports parents in raising children, a challenging endeavor. She has a BA in psychology (spending a lot of time in Franz Hall) and a Masters degree in Education, Sari has over 30 years experience working with parents through her role as a teacher and elementary school administrator, and as a parent advisor and parent education instructor. She spent a few years as an adjunct instructor at Mt. St. Mary’s College in the Department of Education and (way back when…) was a teacher and research assistant at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute (now the Semel Institute) Early Childhood Center. She was recently a guest on the podcast Diverse Thinking, Different Learning where she spoke about the pressures parents are under in contemporary life and gave strategies for what they can do for support.
