Meet the panelists: Margaret Butler of BakerHostetler Margaret Isa Butler serves as BakerHostetler's Financial Services Industry team co-leader and has more than 20 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and private equity, having represented private equity fund managers, institutional investors and family offices across the investment strategy spectrum. She has managed multimillion-dollar and billion-dollar deals, and her experience includes private placements, real estate development projects and limited partner investments, debt and equity co-investments and direct investments, as well as various early-stage investments involving startups.
Joshua Lee is the co-founder and CEO of Ardius. Prior to Ardius, Lee served as a senior executive for more than 13 years with Ernst & Young, a leading global consulting and advisory firm. It was here he focused primarily on understanding the impact of various credits and incentives for both startups and Fortune 100 companies alike. A seasoned leader in startup operations and funding, Lee has had multiple exits as both an investor and founder. He currently serves on the boards of directors/advisors of numerous companies and holds multiple degrees in business economics, accounting and taxation.
Waverly Middleton is an investment associate at Slauson & Co. Prior to her current role, she was an associate at Goldman Sachs in the Executive Office and Global Markets divisions. During her time at Goldman Sachs, Middleton helped steer and launch firm-wide impact initiatives including One Million Black Women, a $10 billion investment initiative, and Launch With GS, a $1 billion investment strategy. Her efforts focused on increasing equity and access for underserved entrepreneurs. Within Global Markets, Middleton supported capital-raising strategies for hedge funds, with a focus on ESG funds.
