Pasadena June Meeting
Thursday, June 11, 2020, 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM PDT
Category: Pasadena

Join BP Pasadena via Zoom as we welcome Linda Marshall-Smith of the US Census Bureau. She’ll be discussing the Census updates and response rate, the impact of COVID-19 on 2020 Census operations,  and how you can help encourage more Census participation.

About the Speaker

Linda Marshall-Smith is a Partnership Specialist with the US Census Bureau.  It is her distinct honor and privilege to engage with trusted organizations in the community, including state, city and local governments, small and large businesses, non-profit and faith-based organizations, and scholastic and health institutions, encouraging support and assistance in helping spread news and updates about the 2020 Census.

With an MBA in Marketing from Fordham University Gabelli School of Business in New York City, Marshall-Smith delights in her job with the US Census Bureau, an entity she considers to be the granddaddy of all market research.  She first joined the Census Bureau in April 2009, participating in several operations for the 2010 Census.

While simultaneously running a niche web destination for television fans, Marshall-Smith continued working with the Census Bureau’s Los Angeles Regional Office (LARO) after 2010 Census operations ended.  She was hired on a project-to-project basis until accepting a permanent position with the LARO in 2017.  She then worked on a variety of projects including the American Community Survey, the Survey of Income and Program Participation, The Consumer Expenditure Survey and the American Housing Survey.  She quickly rose from a Field Rep to a Field Supervisor and in June 2019, was promoted to her current position of Partnership Specialist for the 2020 Census out of the Los Angeles Regional Census Center (LARCC).

Prior to working for the US Census Bureau, Marshall-Smith enjoyed a career in marketing and public relations.  She likewise worked as a Location Manager for film and television, and is a graduate of the Founder Institute, a startup accelerator in the tech space.  When time permits, she continues to consult on marketing, new product/service introduction, and team building for the startups in Silicon Beach.
