Join us for our Silicon Beach BP Meeting as we host Jim Schaefer, one of the founding members of Pasadena Angels!

Interested in investing in today’s high tech and new product start-up companies?  Know someone who has developed a hot new product or software application and is looking for funding?  

Hear Pasadena Angels founding member and CPA business advisor Jim Schaefer explain the Angels’ investment process.  Jim is business strategy partner of Mark Schaefer Associates, CPA’s and has taught entrepreneurship classes at Cal State Long Beach and “Financial Tools for Business Growth” through UCLA Extension.  He will offer suggestions about evaluating Angel investments, provide tips for pursuing funding from Angel investors and share his experiences about start-up successes and failures. 

About the Speaker

Jim Schaefer, CPA, MBA is managing partner of Mark Schaefer Associates, a boutique CPA firm with a specialty in early stage technology and fast growth companies.  He advises entrepreneurs, CEO’s and managers on financial issues including business funding, financial plans and projections, business valuations, mergers and acquisitions and management information systems. Jim’s special emphasis is in business strategies for increasing revenue, controlling costs and managing financial matters.

He is a founding member, past secretary and current treasurer of Pasadena Angels, a 100 member angel investment group.  Jim currently serves on the Board of MADIA Tech Launch that promotes the region’s technical, scientific and industrial workforce.  He was a member of the Advisory Board and chair of the mentoring committee of the Business Technology Center incubator in Los Angeles County. Prior to joining Mark Schaefer Associates, he worked for one of the large international CPA firms now part of PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Jim has a BA in Economics from UCLA and an MBA from USC. He has taught Advanced Entrepreneurship to graduate engineering students at Cal State Long Beach and accounting and finance at University of La Verne.  Most recently he created and taught the class on “Financial Tools for Business Growth” through UCLA Extension.

Time will be set aside for attendee introductions, so using the video feature throughout the meeting is encouraged. The presentation will take place during the second half of the meeting.
