BP/REAG Zoom Session, Dec. 14th – CA Senator Scott Wiener Discusses Affordable Housing

Bruin Professionals and the Real Estate Alumni Group are teaming up to provide important and timely real estate content.  On Monday, December 14th, California State Senator Scott Wiener will discuss the State’s affordable housing crisis. The webinar will be moderated by Stephanie Klasky-Gamer, President and CEO of LA Family Housing.

Elected in November 2016 and just reelected, Senator Scott Wiener serves as the Chair of the Senate Housing Committee and represents District 11 in the California State Senate.  District 11 includes all of San Francisco, Broadmoor, Colma, and Daly City, as well as portions of South San Francisco.  Senator Wiener has authored 42 bills that were signed into law.  Prior to his terms in the Senate, he served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and was Deputy City Attorney in the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office.  He received a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a law degree from Harvard Law School. He also spent a year in Chile on a Fulbright Scholarship doing historical research.

California is in a deep housing crisis, caused by decades of bad housing policy. Senator Wiener will discuss the State’s efforts to reduce homelessness, address exploding housing costs, and thwart NIMBY-ism with respect to multi-family development.  A review of recently enacted housing legislation and ongoing efforts will be examined.

Time will be set aside for Q&A.
