BIPOC Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship in a Post-Covid World: A Virtual Panel Discussion

You’re invited to Bruin Professional’s first ever Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion event. Join us to learn tips and tricks for becoming a successful entrepreneur and intrapreneur, insights into how some businesses thrived during the pandemic and economic downturn, and predictions for the post-pandemic business world. Moderator Melissa Dagodag leads the conversation with panelists Jonathan Wilson, Tiffany Chin, and Rod Ponce.

About the Moderator

Melissa Dagodag has practiced law for 20 years in Los Angeles and is a member of the California State and Beverly Hills Bar Associations. She has her own law firm, The Law Offices of Melissa K. Dagodag, in Beverly Hills. Prior to becoming an attorney, she earned her Master's and Bachelor's degrees in English from Stanford University and her J.D. from UCLA School of Law. She is a former staff writer at The Stanford Daily and a published poet. She is also a former fashion model with Elite Model Management and a former Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine School of Law. Melissa’s legal writing has been published in The Daily Journal and the legal journal New Matter. Melissa brings to bear her substantial legal experience and her experience as talent in front of the camera, in counseling her fashion, entertainment and creative clients and in drafting, reviewing and negotiating their contracts. In her spare time, she enjoys digital photography, practicing yoga (certified instructor), songwriting (small music publishing deal) and playing tennis.

About the Panelists

Jonathan Wilson is a dynamic Strategy & Operations professional focused on organic and inorganic value creation for start-ups and more traditional organizations. Jonathan has spent the majority of his career focused on working directly for Fortune 500 companies and partnering with division-level and corporate-level client executives within trailblazing organizations. Currently, Jonathan is the President & Chief Value Creator for Dubb Value Creation, a management consulting firm focused on value creation for small and mid-size companies. In addition to being a member of Bruin Professionals, Jonathan also serves as President of the UCLA Anderson Black Alumni and Vice-Chair of the Programs Committee on the board for the Los Angeles Urban League.

Tiffany Chin founded the residential real estate team, The Tiffany Chin Group, in 2012 based in the Hancock Park / Larchmont Village neighborhood of Los Angeles. Her business has flourished in more ways than she could have imagined, and most recently, earned the award of #1 agent for her production in 2020 amongst a brokerage of 400+. Tiffany constantly strives to deliver real estate experiences that energize and empower her team and clients. Whenever she can, Tiffany enjoys spending quality time with her friends and sisters, and more often than not, that quality time involves her great love--food. She’s always up for a food adventure and exploring different recipes to put her amateur chef skills to the test.

Rod A. Ponce is Senior Account Executive with First Republic Bank, and specializes in small business financing for professionals service firms, home equity lines of credit and student loan refinancing.  He has been in the financing services industry since graduating from UCLA in 2006. Rod has been involved with Toastmasters International as an Area Director, he currently sits on the UCLA Silicon Beach Bruins regional network as their Professional Development Chair, and he is the current President for the Bruin Professionals, a profession networking group that spans 11 chapters throughout Southern California. For personal hobbies, Rod enjoys snowboarding, camping, and taking walks with his wife and dog, Maverick.
