Why Trials Are Like Catnip for TV and Movie Producers

Chuck Rosenberg, best-selling author, prime-time television legal consultant, attorney and law professor will discuss how the structures of an Anglo-American trial nest perfectly with the "needs of drama" and are as a result irresistible to writers and producers. Nor does it matter whether we are talking about real events or fictionalized happenings or something in between. And, of course, the steady diet of trial consumption does have an impact on the public -- sometimes in good ways, sometimes in bad ways, and sometimes in ways that are sometimes simply indifferent. In entertaining us (he hopes), Chuck will draw on his experiences as a consultant to four Prime Time TV shows, his coverage of the OJ Simpson criminal and civil trials for E! Television, his authorship of six novels (each one of which has a trial in it), and the course on Law and Popular Culture that he has taught at Loyola Law School for the last fifteen years.

Time will be set aside for attendee introductions, so using the video feature throughout the meeting is encouraged. Please watch the training and read the documents on the BP ZOOM Resource Center, so you are prepared for the meeting.
