Beyond the Finish Line: From Olympic Gold to CEO
Susan Francia spent years rowing in circles for Olympic gold before trading the boat for the boardroom. Two golds and a UCLA Anderson MBA later, she's CEO and Co-Founder of Repeat Therapeutics, leading a team developing new treatments for ALS. She's proving that building a startup isn't all that different from training for the Olympics: surround yourself with great people, embrace the setbacks, and keep moving the boat forward.
Meet the speaker:
Susan Francia
Susan Francia is an Olympic gold medalist and biotech executive. A two-time Olympic champion and five-time World Champion with the USA Women’s Eight, she brings a high-performance, execution-driven mindset to life sciences leadership. She trained for 10 years with the U.S. National Team at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, and has been based in San Diego, California, since the 2012 Olympics in London.
She holds a BA and MS from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from UCLA, and has led business development and strategy initiatives in biotech. Susan currently leads Repeat Therapeutics’ efforts to develop first-in-human therapies for ALS. She is the daughter of Nobel laureate Dr. Katalin Karikó.
