7-year Bruin Jon Light wrote The Cultural Encyclopedia of Baseball (2nd ed), at 1.2 million words the largest Baseball book in history. The Sporting News Baseball Book of the Year and an Editor’s Choice Booklist Award winner, the book covers the vast history and flavor of Baseball.  Jon tells stories and shows vintage photos from his book, and guarantees that you will enjoy the anecdotes even if you’re not a Baseball fan.

Jon Light

Jon Light is the author of the 1,105-page The Cultural Encyclopedia of Baseball, (2nd Ed.). The first edition received national acclaim as the Best Baseball Research Book of 1997 from The Sporting News and The Society for American Baseball Research. The American Library Association voted the book as an Editor’s Choice top ten reference books in any category for 1997.

Jon has made numerous speeches regarding his book and has appeared over 25 times on regional and national radio broadcasts. He had a weekly radio spot for over a year on KTRO 1520 AM in Ventura, California.

In addition to spending 11 years working on the two editions of his book, Jon has practiced for over 40 years as an employment law attorney on behalf of management. He is the Managing and a Founding Partner of LightGabler LLP. He provides day-to-day consulting on employment issues and defends employers in wrongful termination, harassment and discrimination actions. He has also served as general counsel for the Class A California League.
