Breaking Bias: Addressing Bias in the Courtroom, Workplace and Beyond

Linda Guthmann Krieger and Len Levy will offer insights on how to recognize implicit bias and how bias can impede communication in various contexts impacting the practice of law.  Linda will cover bias in hiring, firing, promotions and discipline, while Len will cover bias in the courtroom and in mediation.

Meet the speakers:

Linda Guthmann Krieger is a member in the Labor and Employment Practice Group and Hospitality Group of Ellenoff, Grossman & Schole, a national firm, with her office in Long Beach, CA.  She advises and represents employers on matters involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, trade secrets and wage and hour laws. She also defends employees and assists them with separation agreements. 

Len Levy is a Mediator and Arbitrator on the ADR Services, Inc. Panel of Neutrals. After 30 years of experience as a trial attorney trying complex business, construction, insurance (including surety and fidelity), personal injury, products liability, and real estate cases, Len Levy began resolving disputes as a mediator and arbitrator in 1998. In his more than 23 year career as a neutral, Len has not only resolved hundreds of matters in the same areas in which he tried cases, but has also been effective in resolving mass tort and complex multi-party cases related to product liability and sexual abuse/molestation, homeowners’ association disputes, professional liability (medical and legal malpractice), employment and legal fee disputes.
