Meet the speaker: Lon B. Isaacson

In the mid-2000’s, Lon accepted as plaintiffs’ attorney, what would turn out to be one of the most life-changing cases for him, his clients and the children of America. Having taken an early interest in Child Abuse Law during his years at UCLA Law, he was the right person at the right time to become a lead attorney in the sexual abuse cases against the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. A relentless pursuit of the truth behind the barriers put up by the Catholic Church to hide its unforgiveable patterns of behavior led to a record setting settlement of $660.11 million. Lon will tell the story of how he doggedly fought off numerous attempts by the Church to shield them from blame, to eventually ferret out the story that gave the Church no choice but to accept this massive settlement.

Lon, now retired, is aged 74 years. He grew up in a suburb of Chicago, attended Northwestern Military Academy as a teen, graduating Valedictorian. He then matriculated to Lawrence University in Wisconsin, which led him to the UCLA School of Law. He then spent his working career as an attorney in Los Angeles, handling cases in various fields, such as bankruptcy, tax law and plaintiff injury.
