Domenico Fabrizi

The airline industry, one of the largest sectors in the modern economy, impacts millions of customers every day. Domenico's research scrutinizes the impact of airlines' decisions on travelers, with a specific emphasis on upgrades – fees that customers pay to access Business Class after the purchase of an Economy Class ticket. His empirical study concludes that upgrade options benefit not only airlines, by increasing revenues, but also travelers, by providing discounted access to Business Class.

Domenico Fabrizi is a UCLA Economics PhD student. He loves studying how firms make pricing decisions, develop new products, and how these affect consumers. His main interest is in the airline industry. In particular, in his research, he explores how airlines manage challenges related to empty seats and overbooking.
