THE LAW LETS YOU DO IT, BUT DON'T. IT'S A ROTTEN THING TO DO

Elihu Root supposedly counseled one of his clients "The law lets you do it, but don't.  It's a rotten thing to do."  Another one:  "About half the practice of a decent lawyer is telling would-be clients that they are darn fools and should shut up.”  Join your lawyer colleagues for an online Zoom roundtable discussion about when clients have asked you to do "rotten things," and how you politely declined, told them that they were "darn fools," or otherwise got yourself out of a thorny situation.  (If you DID cross the ethical line, you shouldn't tell us because then we would all be obligated to turn you in under the new rules.)  There will also be time for introductions and testimonials.
